Perpetuating stereotypes in Black America

There are many ways that language is used in a destructive manner today. The media separates words like “Bruh” and “Bae” to be more “black” words. this perpetuates the stereotype of black Athletes not being educated, and dissociated them from the affluent scholars. This can also be strengthened by videos on youtube, posts on facebook, vines, and other social media. This new outlet allows for shortcuts like “brb” which can also be associated negatively with black americans. Also, when black athletes have interviews on TV, they perpetuate different stereotypes if they do not speak “proper” english. This is a big problem that is unknowingly perpetuated by black athletes, and has resulted in negative connotations with the uneducated and sports.
