The Importance of Language

It is important to study language in a class that discusses themes like gender inequality and racial relations because it makes students much more socially informed and cognisnant. Studying language opens up students to many different cultures, with the numerous amounts of different dialects and jargon each culture possesses. Not only does it educate students culturally, but it makes them more aware of cultural and racial stereotypes that so ever present in society today. Similarly, being exposed to other cultures, races, etc instills a sense of empathy that allows students to be more altruistic and unselfish. Lastly, enlightening students about race and equality can hopefully subdue or possibly eradicate these issues, of course in due time. Overall, language aids in comprehending said problems, which makes students more keen and more aware of the rest of the world.
