When Power Goes to Your Head

Power; everyone wants power at some point or another. In Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth destroyed anyone who could get in their way as they climbed to the throne. Similarly, Liu Han along with his brother and other officials of high power, were running a mafia-like business. Taking out people who could have gotten in their way to become and remain a powerful force in China. Like Macbeth, whom many people looked up to and worked with at a point in time, Liu Han’s Han Long group had ties with Australia, China, and the United States.

Power; it can make you do the unthinkable. Macbeth orders the execution of Banquo, his sons, kills Duncan, and orders the slaughter of Macduff’s family and servants. All of this was done so that the Three Witches’ prophecy would be false and so that he could remain King. Meanwhile Macbeth started having hallucinations of dead Banquo, and he became paranoid. He ordered the executions of those he was suspicious of, until Malcolm, Macduff, and an army came and killed him. Coincidentally, Liu Han was convicted of running a mafia-style business, corruption, and possible ties with a former security tsar who is under investigation. Liu Han was executed in China last week.

Power; it can go to your head.
